Chemical peel treatment at Evolve Skin Clinic
OVERVIEW

What is Chemical Peels?

A chemical peel applies a controlled solution to the skin to exfoliate the outer layers, encouraging cell turnover and revealing fresher skin beneath. Peels range in strength from light, with little to no visible downtime, to deeper peels with more significant peeling and recovery. The right strength and type of peel depends on your skin and the concern being treated — from pigmentation and congestion to fine lines and overall texture.

THE PROCESS

What's involved

What to expect

Your skin is cleansed and the peel solution applied in a controlled manner. You may feel warmth, tingling or mild stinging during application. Depending on the peel strength, treatment takes 15–30 minutes.

Recovery

Lighter peels may cause only mild flaking. Medium and deeper peels cause more visible peeling over several days, and skin will be more sun-sensitive during this time. Strict sun protection is essential during and after recovery.

BENEFITS

Potential benefits

This treatment may:

  • May improve skin texture, tone and overall clarity
  • Can help address pigmentation and congestion
  • Tailored in strength to suit your skin and how much downtime you can accommodate
  • Can be layered into an ongoing skin maintenance plan

Outcomes vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.

RISKS

Risks and complications

All treatments carry some risk, even non-surgical ones. Key risks include:

  • Redness, tightness and visible peeling, with severity depending on peel strength
  • Pigmentation changes — a recognised risk, particularly with deeper peels and in darker skin types
  • Scarring — an uncommon but recognised risk with stronger peels
  • Increased sun sensitivity during recovery, requiring strict sun protection
  • Not suitable for certain peel types during pregnancy or breastfeeding

This is a summary, not a complete list. Peel strength and ingredient selection is tailored to your skin at consultation — not all peels are appropriate for all skin types or concerns. Please raise any concerns with our clinical team directly.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Will my face visibly peel?

This depends on the peel strength. Lighter peels may cause minimal visible flaking; deeper peels cause more noticeable peeling over several days.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

This depends on peel depth and how your skin is healing — your clinician will advise you specifically after your treatment.

How often can I have a peel?

This depends on the peel type and your skin's response. Your clinician will recommend an appropriate schedule.
