Funding your surgery
Surgery is a significant financial decision, and how you fund it is worth thinking through carefully. This page sets out what to know — it is general information only, not financial advice specific to your situation.
Seek independent financial advice
Before deciding how to fund your surgery, we recommend speaking with an independent financial adviser or your accountant. They can look at your full financial position and help you weigh up the options below in the context of your own circumstances — something a page like this can never do.
Medical financing
We don’t offer finance directly. If you’d like to explore financing your procedure, we’re happy to refer you to a medical financing provider, so you can discuss with them directly whether they have an option that suits your needs.
Other options patients consider
Every patient’s situation is different, and there is no single right way to fund surgery. Options some patients look into include:
- Personal savings
- Early Release of Superannuation — on medical grounds, where eligibility criteria set by the ATO are met
- A loan or line of credit through your own bank
- Private health insurance, where the procedure qualifies — see our Medicare & Health Funds page
This isn’t an exhaustive list, and whether any of these suit you depends on your own circumstances — which is exactly why independent financial advice is the right starting point.
