What is a blepharoplasty?

“Blepharoplasty” refers to a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of your eyes. It can be performed on either your upper or lower eyelids. As the facial skin and soft tissues undergo ageing, there is laxity of the skin and fat surrounding the eyes. Eyelid surgery serves to remove this excess skin and fat, thereby offering a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance.

Lower eyelid surgery is generally performed with a general anaesthetic. Excess skin is removed, bulging fat, if present, is redistributed. The final scar will lie just below your eyelashes.
